it's better to have loved, than to regret

My girlfriend and I have been together for almost 7 years.

One of the reasons I think we're still together is how I act when we're fighting. If we're fighting, I treat her exactly the same as I would any other day. The only difference is I just give her more space.

If I see something or think of something that I can do to show my love to her, I will do / buy / tell her that thing.

Things like: making her a coffee, filing her water bottle, and buying her a pastry.

Why?

The only thing you have control over in your relationship (and in life), is how much effort you put into it. Most people think relationships shouldn't be hard work - I'm not here to argue the truth of that - but if your relationship or job comes to an end, what will your feeling be?

Peace - knowing you put in your 100% effort?

Or regret - knowing that you could've done more?

It's the doing that counts.

I'd rather love (action), than to regret (inaction). I generally try to minimise the feeling of regret so I don't die unhappy.
